Let it Go....
Like many other Moms across America, and the world really, Disney's FROZEN theme song has wormed its way into the meager confines of my subconscious. Even during the mundane...Washing dishes- it unknowingly pops into your head. Folding laundry- you find yourself humming the enchanting tune. You might even find yourself changing a lyric or two while attempting to encourage your little one NOT to wet her pants in the middle of Joann's...("Don't let it go, Don't let it go..)
Even though I may not like to admit to belting it out on the top of my lungs with the accompaniment of four in the confines of my own minivan- the sentiment of the title alone has encouraged me in more ways than one. On my journey to find more peace and rest on a daily basis, this is how I have found those unassuming little lyrics helpful:- Those little things that just irritate you about whoever- L.I.G
- The odds and ends around your house that make you feel like you live in a land of clutter-L.I.G
- Feelings of unworthiness and incapability when it comes to homeschooling-L.I.G
- Holding "that thing" over your own head because you haven't got to it-L.I.G
- Wanting everything to be perfect all the time-L.I.G
- Not getting to the last minute details for the birthday party you are throwing-L.I.G
- Wishing you made something other than hotdogs for dinner (again)-L.I.G
I don't believe we were made by our Creator to live our lives with feelings of regret. Letting it go and moving on is so freeing- if you can just give yourself permission to do so and make the conscious decision. Some of our natural coping mechanisms we use to deal with life serves to actually harm us more than help. Worry, harboring resentment, feelings of guilt, fear- NO. That is not the life I was designed for.
I choose to 'Let It Go' and live more freely and fully.
